The program Start Strong Oakland teaches youth how to build healthy relationships.

Program targets dating violence ---  

A four-year initiative in Oakland is helping young people understand what makes a healthy relationship—before they enter their teen years and become vulnerable to dating violence and abuse.  

Start Strong: Building Healthy Teen Relationships is a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), and Start Strong Oakland is among the nearly dozen sites involved across the country.

Una iniciativa de cuatro años en Oakland está ayudando a los jóvenes a comprender cómo debe establecerse una relación de pareja saludable antes de que alcancen la adolescencia y se vuelvan vulnerables a la violencia y abuso por parte de sus pareja íntimas.

Local school produces high achievers ---

Rosie Rios and her eight sisters and brothers were raised by their mom in Hayward. Rosie was born in 1965, the same year that the doors first opened at Moreau Catholic High School, which would play an important role in her future.

She attended Moreau and graduated with honors, which led to her attending Harvard University where she earned a bachelor's degree. Rios then worked in economic development jobs in Fremont,

Escuela local crea triunfadores ---

Rosie Rios y sus ocho hermanas y hermanos fueron criados por su mamá  en Hayward. Rosie nació en 1965, el mismo año en que la escuela Moreau Catholic High School abrió sus puertas por primera vez, escuela que jugaría un rol muy importante en su futuro.

Ella asistió a Moreau y se graduó con honores, lo que ayudó a que asistiera a la Universidad de Harvard de donde recibió su título universitario.

Employers will be hiring job seekers at weekly events of The Oakland Career Expo project.

‘Working together, we are building pathways to success’ is the theme of The Oakland Career Expo project. Through a series of 32 career exposition events, the project was created to give unemployed workers who live in Oakland the necessary support and resources to achieve a competitive edge in what has become a complex local labor market.

‘Trabajando juntos, estamos construyendo los caminos hacia el éxito’ es el tema del proyecto Expo Carrera de Oakland. Por medio de una serie de 32 eventos de exposición de carreras, el proyecto fue creado para brindar a los trabajadores desempleados que viven en Oakland el apoyo y los recursos necesarios para lograr ventajas competitivas para enfrentar lo que se ha convertido en un complejo mercado laboral local.
