"Cuauhtemoc” visits San Francisco

San Francisco welcomes the Mexican Naval Academy’s training vessel “Cuauhtemoc” on July 13th at Pier 27, her last stop before sailing to its home port in the beautiful city of Acapulco, Mexico.
 
During the past six months, the tall ship has sailed the Pacific Ocean and visited Honolulu, Hawaii; the cities of Quingdao and Shanghai in the Republic of China; Incheon, South Korea; Vladivostok, Russia; and the cities of Osaka, Tokio and Onjuku in Japan.

Latinos in Oakland’s Fruitvale and San Antonio neighborhoods believe that violence on television and radio contributes to violence at home and in the community, according to a survey by La Clínica de la Raza, Inc. A total of 88 percent of survey participants believe that television programs promote violence while 50 percent believe that radio programs promote violence.
