Synopsis: Since 1995, the federal government has spent nearly $40 billion and provided trillions of dollars worth of insurance guarantees to lenders to promote homeownership, especially among communities of color. The infusion of money boosted homeownership rates slightly over the decades, but the ongoing national foreclosure crisis is wiping out all of those gains.

Sinopsis: Desde 1995 el gobierno federal ha gastado cerca de $40 mil millones de dólares y facilitado trillones de dólares en valor en garantías de seguros a los prestamistas, a fin de promover que la gente sea dueña de su propia casa, especialmente en las comunidades de color. Diverse music and food to draw crowd to Art & Soul festival

One of the Bay Area’s largest and most popular festivals is again set to draw thousands of people to downtown Oakland. Scheduled for August 20 & 21, the 11th Annual Art & Soul Festival will feature music, art and food reflecting the rich cultural diversity of the Oakland area.

Last year more than 60,000 people attended the event, which this year will feature more than 150 artisans and the largest Family Fun Zone of any festival in the Bay Area.

Salsa, rock, rock en español, cumbia, and jazz musicians will entertain the crowds. Several Latino musicians are among the most anticipated performers at the festival.
