Children enjoy a live presentation of The Genius Plan! in Oakland.

More than 800 East Bay pre-school and kindergarten students recently enjoyed a unique presentation designed to introduce them to STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The interactive presentation, The Genius Plan!, uses live performance, multi-media video, and puppetry to expose children to basic STEM concepts. Making a stop in Oakland last week, the award-winning show is designed to help close the academic achievement gap.

The colorful show features characters from the well-known Genius Pre-K app, which has reached more than 12 million children worldwide. The show follows the journey of puppet characters who are launched out of the Genius Pre-K app where they live. Intended for students aged 4 to 6, the show is designed to educate students on teamwork, emotions, and more. With animated songs, movement, and audience participation, the show was a captivating experience for both the kids and adults in attendance at the Oakland event. The Oakland performance was sponsored by the Kapor Center, which aims to make the tech industry more diverse.

The Genius Plan! is a program of Genius Plaza, an online company with a multicultural education platform built for diverse communities and currently serving more than 12 million of the world’s poorest children. Tech entrepreneur Ana Roca Castro is the founder and CEO of Genius Plaza.

Genius Plaza is an education platform dedicated to democratizing education, embodying the ideal that access to information equals access to opportunity.
